Serial Killer Versus Reformed Con Artist

Micro-review of TH1RT3EN written by Steve Cavanagh

A 323 page psychological thriller that reveals itself over five days and 73 chapters.

Tagline, "The serial killer isn't on trial. He's on the Jury"

Prologue: took place six weeks earlier and had me begging for more six hours later. Cavanagh reeled me in hook, line, and sinker!

Joshua Kane, the psychopathic antihero, battles wits against Eddie Flynn, the unlikely standard bearer, alternating as vested narrators. One seeks the truth while the other seeks to suppress it. These two personas are developed through flashbacks, action sequences, and internal reflection. Both men are highly intelligent, tenacious, and intense!

The setting is adequate but immaterial!

Cavanagh expertly wields every noun, pronoun, verb, and adjective to proclaim the victor in a battle of wills, intellect, and the need for redemption. The winner securing the most favorable verdict!

Pace of book: moderato

The ending converges at a Pyrrhic Victory!
